
Christie Koppe is a full time Theatrical Director based in Sydney. She has completed “A Practical Approach to Directing” through Yale University, CT, USA, has a Master of Teaching (Drama & Languages [Spanish and Italian Studies]) from The University of Sydney and has completed the Director’s and Writer’s Studio: Live Performance, NIDA.
Her production of “Company”, by Sondheim, was named Best Fringe Production (Musical) 2014, according to Sydney Arts Guide. After directing “Six Characters in Search of an Author” and a set of 3 one-act plays in collaboration with two female directors, “The Pursuit”, she was part of a collaboration with a playwright on a new Australian work, directing both the preliminary reading, “Coffee Art”, and staged reading, “Better Versions of Ourselves”. Large-scale musical productions are Christie’s forte and she enjoyed directing “City of Angels”.
After assisting on the Fringe and premiere production of “The Matilda Waltz”, Christie was Assistant to Director for “The Diary of Anne Frank”, and returned to The New Theatre as Director of the first moved reading (with Q&A) in their education program for 2016: “The Chapel Perilous”.
Christie wrote and directed a Cabaret, “Show Off!? A History of Broadway Explained” and has choreographed over 60 performers in “Hot Mikado”.
Christie’s dance knowledge relies on years of training in Physical Culture, Advanced Samba & Salsa, Modern Jazz, Zumba, Contemporary, Hip hop, Aerobics, Funk and Tap.
